This document describes how to create a synchronized playlist.

Suppose we want to display images/video of different advertisements or information split across 3 displays placed alongside each other as shown in the following examples:

EXAMPLE 1: ADVERTISEMENTS ON A DISPLAY

In order to display all the advertisements properly, all the devices should display the content of one particular advertisement across all the displays.

Hence, the displays are required to be in sync with each other.

EXAMPLE 2: DIRECTIONS INSIDE A CAMPUS

For guiding people on road in a campus, one can use such a combination of displays to show the directions and their description.

It is necessary that information pertaining to a display should appear in sync with the directions

EXAMPLE 3: DIGITAL ENCYCLOPEDIA OF ANIMALS IN A ZOO

A group of devices can be used to display information and pictures of animals inside a zoo.

In order to display appropriate information, it is necessary that the image of the animal changes in proper sync with its information.

In all the examples above, we saw that we would want the content on all the displays to be synced so that our content seams smoothly.

If a transition occurs on one of the display, in order to maintain the timing sequence on all the devices, the transition should occur at the same time. A synced playlist helps us do it easily.

Let us create a synced playlist for the first example above(advertisements). To create a synced playlist, follow these steps:

Creating Sync Play Playlist

  1. First of all, trim the images/videos that need to be displayed into three portions and save them as different files. Now, click on Contents tab and upload all the pre-cut images/videos files.

  2. Once uploading is finished, assign media tags to the content such that images with a particular media tag are displayed on a particular device.

    1. Select all the content that we want to display on the Device1 panel (first panel) and then click on Edit Multiple.

    2. Now, under the Media Tag section, select a tag (say Tag-01) and click on Save.
Make sure that all the images that need to be displayed on Device1 are assigned Tag-01.
Do this for all other media and their respective tags (i.e. Tag-02 for Device2 media and Tag-03 for Device3 media)

  3. Now, go to the Devices tab, select your group of devices and assign one media tag each to every device as per the Tags assigned to the content as shown below.

  4. Select a tag for a device and then click on Apply.
Assign different tags to all other devices in the group. In our example, we have assigned Tag-01 to Device1, Tag-02 to Device2 and Tag-03 to Device3.

  5. After assigning tags to all your content successfully, select Playlist on the right side and then click on New Playlist.

  6. Under Supported Devices, select the model type of your device from the list of supported devices.
Then from the dropdown menu under the Playlist Type, select Sync Play. Click on Create.

  7. Now, on the right hand side of the screen, select the checkbox templates under both the groups and click on Delete as shown in the following image.
Now we can add fresh content in our groups

  8. Now we will customize the number of groups and content count for our playlist as shown below.

    1. In our example, we would need 3 groups of playlists. So, click on the Add Group to create the third group.

    2. Uncheck the sync button.
      Image Removed
Now, select the Filter Icon located over the contents and filter your content by tags.

    3. Select Tag-01 under the Media Tag and click on View.
Drag and drop the Tag-01 content from the left side of the screen and add them to Group 1 one by one. Repeat this for other Tags and Groups (Tag-02 content to Group 2 and Tag-03 content to Group 3).
Maintain the same sequence of advertisement in each group. Now each group contains the set of images that a particular device shall display.

      정보

In general, assign the same types of content files to playlist groups to which to synced playback. For example, if the first content file in playlist group 1 is an image file, the first content file in playlist group 2 must also be an image file.

  9. After doing this, your groups should look like following image. Set the content duration (5 sec). Click on Save on the top left corner of the screen.

  10. Give your playlist a name and a group and finally click on Save.

  11. Now, to create a schedule of the playlist, click on Schedule on the left tab, click on New Schedule and select Content.

  12. Select your device type and schedule type as Sync Play.

  13. Click Select button to select the group in which you want to publish.

  14. Select the group and click Save.

  15. Click create.

  16. Select Playlist option from left top button as shown in figure.

  17. Select the playlist you created. ‘Associate Tag’ pop-up will appear.

  18. Associate the same Tag to sync groups, which you have used to create that group.
E.g– As we have created group 1 by filtering the data using tag1 drag and drop the tag 1 in front of group 1.
    Click on Save.

  19. Double click on dropped item and select the period of publishing. Click “Save”.

  20. Click on Save Button.

  21. Save & Publish the Schedule to Devices.
